Building Construction
There are a number of construction projects - past, present and future - at Warren Weaver Hall:
Curtain Wall Window Replacement
NYU is replacing the original glass facade of Warren Weaver Hall with a more sustainable and durable system during the summers of 2019, 2021, and 2022. Phase 3 of the windows project will replace the northern 1/3 of WWH’s windows between May 18 and August 31, 2022. This phase will include offices and classrooms ending in 10-19 between the 2nd and 12th floors.
Pipe repairs (NO HVAC IN WWH THIS SUMMER dates TBD)
WWH is continuing to experience heating and cooling issues due to clogged pipes. Emergency repairs in February and March were only able to resolve some of the issues. Additional piping needs to be replaced in 11 risers throughout the building. Columns on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors will be opened to access the pipes and the building HVAC will be turned off in order to drain the pipes. FCM has not yet provided a work schedule or duration for this project.
Co-Generation Plant Upgrade and Boiler Replacement
A major renovation of the co-generation plant under WWH began in fall 2021 and will continue into summer 2022. Demolition of a portion of Gould Plaza outside the northwest corner of WWH is planned over the summer. Temporary boilers on West 4th Street and Mercer Street will support the project. The work will generate significant noise.
